          Winter is officially here and it is a great time for delicious hot chocolate, roasted marshmallows, and feeling toasty in a warm blanket in front of a fireplace...

Despite all these wonderful experiences, winter is also a season of freezing temperatures and low humidity that can leave your skin dry, flaky and itchy. Oftentimes, increased appearance of fine lines and dark spots during winter months are due to not misturizing your skin sufficiently. Here are some essential skin care tips that will keep your skin feeling soft, smooth and hydrated all winter long.


Facial Steam Bath with Chamomile and Sage

 

Chamomile is a powerful antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory herb that has been used for skin regeneration.

Sage is known as “herba sacra” or sacred herb. Sage is a circulatory stimulant and has been used for many forms of skin conditions. 

Add 5-7 drops of each oils into a bowl of hot water. Drape a large towel over your head and lower your face into the steam, letting it unclog your pores. Add a few drops every 5 minutes (10-15 minutes total).

 
Nourishing Mask with Lavender and Frankincense  
 

Frankincense has been valued more than gold during ancient times for its healing qualities. It serves as a cell regenerator, reduces the appearance of fine lines and rejuvenates the skin.

Lavender has been known to combat excess sebum on skin and treat skin conditions (perineal repair, acne, eczema, psoriasis, and scarring).

 
  • 1 teaspoon of olive or coconut oil (natural skin moisturizers that will not clog your pores)
  •   1-2 drops of Young Living’s Frankincense oil
  •    1-2 drops of Young Living’s Lavender oil
  •   Mix and apply a think layer to face before bedtime (3-4 times a week)
 

This natural blend can be used both as a night mask and a day moisturizer.
